I am so pleased to have been chosen to participate in Habitat for Humanity Kelowna’s first annual This to That for Habitat redesign contest!
The contest brings awareness to the many ways to recycle usable items thus keeping them out of our landfills. The Habitat ReStore provides an outlet for the public to buy the products with all proceeds going directly into the local community.
Vote for me via the 99.9 Sun FM website OR in person at The Restore to win a prize including a grand prize trip for two to a Global Village build experience! Voting is limited to one vote per person from September 15th 9am to October 12th 5pm.
Sweet Kids Kitchen
Yesterdays TV stands are much too small for todays Smart TV's making a perfect recipe for up-cycling!
A quick tour of The Restore for the ingredients turned up the TV stand, a set of bathroom taps, a wooden toothbrush holder, a metal bowl, two wooden towel racks, some BBQ replacement knobs and a metal house number plaque.
Particleboard was added as a backing and as a replacement for a glass door. Once the décor items were attached, the entire piece was covered in two coats of Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint in Eulalie's Sky mixed with our Bonding Agent.
“Milk Paint is organic, biodegradable and has zero VOCs. It's an ancient organic paint in powder form. It contains ingredients such as milk protein (casein), limestone, clay and natural pigments. Milk paint provides a long lasting durable finish for interior or exterior use.” – The Pink Bee Company
Once painted, the entire piece was coated in Hemp Oil, a natural solvent-free finish that is food-safe. It’s perfect for use on milk paint, wood floors and in the kitchen on wooden cutting boards, wooden utensils or stone.
It was a pleasure to create the Sweet Kid’s Kitchen for This and That for Habitat and The Restore!
